Since its founding on March 23, 2004, Grace Initiatives has envisioned becoming the organization that people and agencies in the greater New Jersey area think of (and call) when they hear about a teen needing assistance facing an unplanned pregnancy.
The inspiration of five founding members in 2004, combined with the dedication of hundreds of individuals since, has enabled Grace Initiatives to provide housing counseling and life-skills training to over 150 women, between the ages of 11 and 21. Innovation and determination has been central to the development of an effective housing program located in a state with one of the most expensive real estate markets in the country.
Our founding mission contained three objectives:
1) To recruit and train qualified families that will volunteer to provide shelter and care for unwed, pregnant women while they prepare for the birth of their baby.
2) To establish a group home for up to 6 unwed, pregnant women that would provide shelter, meals, care, counseling and life skills for residents to prepare their future.
3) To conduct training seminars for individuals and nonprofit organization who wish to provide maternity housing similar to ours through families in their communities.
